Actor Rupert Grint adds touch of magic to charity appeal

Press release published

English Actor Rupert Grint has got behind Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal, to give the fundraising campaign a final push before it draws to a close at the end of the week.

Rupert, whose Aunty is a Marie Curie Cancer Care volunteer, has got behind the appeal by signing three t-shirts that the charity will auction on EBay and taking part in a photoshoot to promote the Great Daffodil Appeal and encourage others to wear a daffodil pin.

The appeal is the charity’s flagship fundraising appeal which takes place throughout March. Volunteer collectors are out and about across the UK encouraging people to wear a daffodil pin to support Marie Curie Nurses. Money raised from the appeal will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.

Rupert said: “I want to do my bit and help Marie Curie raise as much money as possible so that more people can be supported by their nurses at home during their final days.

“It’s still not too late to support the appeal by giving a donation and wearing a daffodil pin. Let’s help Marie Curie give this one last push to make sure that even more people can benefit from the support of their nurses.”

The appeal was launched earlier in the month by Actress Alison Steadman, whose mother was looked after by Marie Curie Nurses before she died. Other stars including girl band The Saturdays and Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, whose mother was also looked after by Marie Curie Nurses, have backed the appeal. The charity is hoping this year’s appeal will raise even more than last year’s £5.7m.

Daffodil pins can be picked up from local stores, Marie Curie volunteer collectors, Marie Curie Shops and on our website throughout the month.
