Edinburgh Marathon Festival FAQs

When is this event?
Edinburgh Marathon Festival will take place on 27-28 May 2023. The 5k, 10k and junior races will be on the Saturday, with the half, marathon and relay races on the Sunday.
Where is the event?
Sunday's events start in the university grounds on Potterrow and finish in Musselborough. Saturday's events start and finish near the EMF Hub at Dynamic Earth.
What if I become injured or need to cancel my place?
Not a problem! If you have a ballot/general entry place you will need to contact the event organisers & us. If you have a Marie Curie place our supporter relations team can help you. Email them on team@mariecurie.org.uk
When will I receive my race day information and running number?
All entrants who have registered with a UK address will have their runners' number posted out to them before the event weekend in May. It should arrive no later than the Friday of the week leading up to the event.
Will there be toilets and drinks stations?
Details about support on race day can be found on the organiser's website.
What should I do about travel and accommodation?
The best place to find information about transport and accommodation is the EMF website. Do try and book early, to get the best choice and best deals!
What will I receive as part of Team Marie Curie?

What is my fundraising target?
For Marie Curie charity places:
- 5k - £175
- 10k -£175
- Half Marathon - £300
- Full Marathon - £500
If you have a general entry place, we just ask that you raise as much as you can for Marie Curie!
What if my Marie Curie top hasn't arrived or is the wrong size?
Please contact us as soon as possible so we can get one out to you ahead of race day!
Where will Marie Curie be on event day?
We'll have dedicated cheer points on the day and we'd love your personal cheer squad of family and friends to join us! We'll be updating information about our plans closer to the event here.
What are the organisers doing about social distancing and safety at the event?
Marie Curie are working with event organisers to make sure any future events are safe and are following current Government guidelines. We have plans to make sure any future cheer points and post-race plans are socially distanced, hygienic and safe for our event participants, staff and volunteers. We'll be in touch in the lead up to your event with plans and anything you need to know about your event and the safety measures in place.
