Runners' zoneEvery penny makes a difference
Whatever amount you raise, you'll help provide vital end of life care. That's why every mile makes a difference. For example, raising...
£23 could help fund an hour of nursing care
£64 could help fund two hours of hospice bereavement counselling
£120 could help heat one of our hospices for a day
About the challenge
How does the challenge work?
Participants are challenged to Run 31 Miles in May to raise funds for Marie Curie, so we can so we can provide more care for people at the end of life, whatever the illness. The challenge officially starts on 1st May.
Is there a registration fee?
Nope, this event is free for anyone to take part. However, any money you can raise for Marie Curie would really help us to reach more people who need our support.
What do I get when I sign up?
You'll be sent a Marie Curie technical running t-shirt to wear with pride throughout your challenge and you'll get exclusive access to our runners zone!
- Raise £30 and stay hydrated with a sleek metal water bottle!
- Reach £150 and add a medal to your collection!
What if I don't complete the challenge?
The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. However much you achieve, we're so grateful for your support and for raising much needed funds for Marie Curie.
Is there an age limit?
No; you can take part if you're 10 or 110! But, if you're under 16, you will need a parent or guardian to sign you up to the challenge. Please email events@social.mariecurie.org.uk with permission from your parent or guardian.
How long will it take for my T-shirt and goodies to arrive?
To reduce costs were sending items out in batches. Here's when you can expect to get your goodies:
- T-shirts are sent out regularly throughout the challenge, starting from late March. If you've signed up recently, yours will be on its way soon!
- Water bottles are sent in batches approximately every 2 weeks. If you're eligible, you'll receive yours during one of these scheduled dispatches.
- Medals are a special reward for completing the challenge and will be sent after the event ends. Keep an eye on your post - we can't wait to celebrate your achievement!
Does my daily/weekly run/workout count?
This is your challenge, and we encourage you to do it your way. Some people will do it as part of their usual workout and others might choose to add it in addition. The important thing is that you're doing something that challenges you. This will vary from person to person, so tailor the challenge however you like.
Can I change the challenge to suit my needs?
Absolutely! It's your personal challenge and we encourage everyone to adapt it to suit their needs and goals.
Fundraising
Can I have a joint Facebook Fundraiser?
Unfortunately it appears that Facebook have recently removed that option. We recommend setting up a a JustGiving page instead.
My partner/family/colleagues want to join in too. How do they register? Can they have a separate fundraising page?
Yes. You can send them this link to register for the challenge.
Where will my sponsors' money go? Do I have to do anything else to pay in my online sponsorship?
All sponsorship will come directly to Marie Curie. You don't have to worry about this; it happens automatically.
