'Carers need quick and equitable access to mental health support'

Responding to the Senedd's Health and Social Care Committee report on mental health inequalities in Wales, Marie Curie Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager, Bethan Edwards, said: "After highlighting the mental health needs of those caring for someone who is terminally ill, we're pleased to see a reference to it in this report, and hope any inequalities being faced can be tackled quickly.
"At what is already a distressing time for them, quick and equitable access to mental health support for carers of those who are dying is vital. It could make a huge difference to the pre and post bereavement they will face, and could help reduce the pressures they feel around their caring role.
"Our Marie Curie support line is here to offer a listening ear to any carers struggling on 0800 090 2309."
