Control Kammy's catchphrases and win tickets to The Carling Cup Final

Press release published

Chris Kamara’s famous phrases are now in the hands of football fans thanks to Marie Curie and The Football League.

Marie Curie and The Football League are putting control of Chris Kamara in the hands of the public with an interactive video soundboard of his famous catchphrases.

Fans can watch Kamara recreate fifteen of his well-known slogans from ‘Unbelievable Jeff’ and ‘The man mountain’ to the hilarious missed red card incident at Portsmouth.

The soundboard has been produced to promote Kamara’s trek up Kilimanjaro for the charity in June and encourage others to follow in his footsteps by taking on a challenge for Marie Curie. The soundboard also offers Football League fans the chance to win exclusive tickets to the 2011 Carling Cup Final plus a VIP tour of Wembley.

Chris Kamara is the official ambassador of the 2010/11 season-long partnership between The Football League and Marie Curie Cancer Care which aims to raise £500,000. Kamara has backed the partnership in memory of his late mother, who was cared for by Marie Curie Nurses at home before her death in 2003. All money raised will help the charity provide more free nursing care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.

Notes to editor

Marie Curie was selected in September 2009 by The Football League Board to be the official charity partner for the 2010/11 campaign. The decision was made following a vote by over 25,000 fans on the official Football League website which saw Help for Heroes and Marie Curie selected as the two preferred charities from a shortlisted five.

Founded in 1948, Marie Curie is one of the UK's largest charities. Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, it expects to provide care to around 29,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its hospices this year. The charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the local community to provide end of life care, totally free of charge, for patients and their families in their own homes.
