Danske announces Christmas gift for Marie Curie
Press release published
Marie Curie has received a £5,000 gift from Danske Bank in time for Christmas. The Bank made the donation after its staff, customers and members of the public voted for the local charity. Marie Curie provides care and support for around 2,500 people living with any terminal illness in Northern Ireland each year. The charity has more than 120 nurses working in Northern Ireland who care for people and their families in their homes. Alongside this its hospice in Belfast cares for around 500 people each year. Rachel Cleary, Community Relations Co-Ordinator at Danske Bank, said: "As a local bank we are committed to supporting local communities in Northern Ireland. Together with our staff and customers we have raised over £1.3 million for five local charities in the last eleven years and we feel privileged to be able to support Marie Curie this Christmas. ” Conor O’Kane, Senior Partnership Manager at Marie Curie said: “This donation from Danske Bank is a welcome boost for Marie Curie and it will allow us to provide 250 hours of nursing care for people and their families living with any terminal illness at home and in our Belfast Hospice. “We would like to thank Danske Bank staff for nominating Marie Curie at the outset and for all those who supported us in this process.” The Danske Bank Christmas Charity Gift initiative forms part of the Bank’s wide-ranging local community programme.
