Marie Curie responds to the Palliative Care Funding Review

Comment published

Marie Curie welcomes the Palliative Care Funding Review and the Government’s commitment to taking the recommendations forward.

We provided care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in our nine hospices last year and are the largest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS. We are well placed to understand the current barriers within the health system that prevent everyone from having access to high quality care and support at the end of life.

Most people would choose to die at home. In reality most people die in hospital, the place they least want to be. The Government needs to take forward the Review’s to ensure that everyone gets the care and support they need at the end of life in the place of their choice.

The full report is available on the Palliative Care Funding Review website.
