Marie Curie Cancer Care's response to government reaction on the Francis Report

Comment published

Dr Jane Collins, Chief Executive of Marie Curie Cancer Care says;

“Providing good quality care to patients and their families is everyone’s responsibility. Care is not about money and targets but about people and experiences”.

 “While we welcome the government’s acknowledgement of the need for a ‘radical overhaul with high quality care and compassion at its heart’, we believe this should extend beyond the NHS.

“The Francis Report highlighted issues around the wider health and social care system. We need to move together to a place where the people that we care for come first, whoever delivers that care and however it’s delivered.

“We’ve been providing end of life care for over sixty years, in our hospices and in people’s homes. We know the immense distress caused to the family and loved ones after someone dies without the care that they need. The impact endures.
