Marie Curie Cymru welcomes new members to provide expert advice

A charity which cares for people living with a terminal illness has welcomed four new members to its Advisory Board in Wales.
The Marie Curie board supports the work of the charity in Wales, by providing expert advice based on members’ skills and experience.
Four new members are now set to sit on the board, who next meet in May, following the retirement of a number of members who reached the end of their terms of office.
Those who will provide their time and support to the charity are Owen Evans, Rory Farrelly, Rachel Iredale and James Rudolf.
Owen is a Deputy Permanent Secretary for Education and Public Services. Before joining the Welsh Government as a senior civil servant Owen was Director of Business in the Community in Wales and a senior executive in BT.
Rory is the Director of Nursing and Patient Experience and Honorary Professor of Nursing Swansea University for Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board. Before coming to Wales Rory was Director of Nursing and Honorary Senior Lecturer Glasgow University for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Acute Services Division.
Rachel is Evaluation Manager in the Department of Economic Analysis with the Construction Industry Training Board as well as continuing to hold a part time position as Reader in Public Involvement in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Education at the University of South Wales. Prior to her current role Rachel was the Director of Cancer Services with Tenovus, the cancer charity in Wales.
James is the Chief Operating Officer at Trackcel Ltd which is a life sciences business providing critical supply chain management for Cell, Gene and Immunotherapies. James has had a career involving very senior executive roles in software development businesses.
These four members join current members Imelda Richardson, the former Chief Inspector at the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales, Chris Martin, former Chair of Hywel Dda Health Board, Essyllt Williams, the lead GP in a Practice in north West Wales, Bill Jenkins, who is a partner in his PR and communications agency and Chair Gareth Williams who is also a Trustee for Marie Curie UK.
Gareth Williams, Chair of the Advisory Board, said: “We thank most warmly those who are retiring. It will be great to welcome people with such a wide range of expertise and experience to Marie Curie’s Advisory Board in Wales.
“Together with the existing members we have a team that will contribute significantly to the future work and development of Marie Curie in Wales.”
