Marie Curie launches new website

Press release published

Marie Curie, the leading charity caring for people with terminal illnesses, has today launched a new website.

Developed over the past nine months by Marie Curie’s own digital team, the website is one of the first significant enhancements to be delivered through the charity’s new strategic digital plan.

The site was developed following extensive user research, and features a new streamlined navigation which reflects the way people choose to access information, as well as more intuitive functions that enable users to quickly access the right data.

Developed on a new content management system, the site can be easily edited and updated and has been built using responsive design which demonstrates the charity’s new ‘mobile first’ approach to its digital channels. This approach acknowledges the multitude of devices and places through which people now choose to access Marie Curie’s services.

Many key aspects of the user experience have been improved, including a streamlined donation journey for mobile and tablet devices, and a much cleaner layout of design and content that is more intuitive for users.

This is the first phase of development for the website, with further phases planned for regular delivery from this point on.

Claire Hazle, Head of Digital at Marie Curie, said:

“This is a very exciting time for Marie Curie as we embark on our ambitious five-year strategy, and particularly our digital journey as a core element of this.

“Engaging with our supporters and stakeholders through digital platforms and multichannel communications is key for us if we’re to achieve the goals set out in the strategy. But the work doesn’t stop here; the website has a continual programme of improvement to ensure it continues to meet everyone’s needs.

“The introduction of the new features, easier navigation and the new look and feel will not only improve the user journey but make the website much more helpful for those looking for support through terminal illness.”
