Marie Curie responds to Care Quality Commission report: “Hospices offering more ‘Outstanding’ care than other services regulated by CQC”
Marie Curie is the largest provider of hospice beds, outside the NHS, and has five hospices in England. Scott Sinclair, Head of Policy and Public Affairs in England, for Marie Curie, said:
“Hospices provide a vital service to their local community, yet we know that thousands of people miss out on the specialist care and support they need – we need to change this. It is imperative that more people are made aware that hospices are available to everyone living with a terminal illness at any stage of their illness, regardless of their condition, background or circumstance. At the same time, our own research looking at the experiences of LGBT and homeless people highlights that more needs to be done to ensure that everyone receives high-quality, person-centred care that acknowledges and supports them throughout their terminal illness.”
