Dr Sam Royston, Director of Policy and Research at Marie Curie, said: "It is deeply wrong that when people are coming to terms with an illness many are also forced into financial turmoil. This research chimes with our own work on the financial impact of being diagnosed with a terminal illness which found that 43% of those caring for people at the end of life say they struggle financially.

"The Government need to take urgent action to improve financial support for people living with terminal illness by rapidly moving forward with changes which will help ensure that people living with terminal illness have expedited access to key benefits, and by ensuring no one living with terminal illness misses out on crucial support with energy bills through the Warm Home Discount."
