Marie Curie response to CSA survey

As part of the Care Support Alliance, Marie Curie are today calling on the Government to take action on social care to ensure that people get the care they deserve. We have signed an open letter to Jeremy Hunt, available here.

Rick Wright, Policy Manager for Marie Curie said:

“For far too long we have treated social care as the poor cousin of health care, and today’s findings show the impact that this has on peoples’ lives. It simply isn’t good enough to have people approaching the end of their lives with day-to-day care needs relying on a system that is chronically underfunded and undervalued.

“Until we decide to invest in social care and the people delivering it, this picture won’t change. It’s urgent that the government gets to grips with social care, and we hope that the Department of Health and Social Care’s upcoming green paper outlines some bold solutions.”
