Marie Curie Cymru Policy and Public Affairs Senior Manager, Bethan Edwards, said: "Having been involved in the development of this work, Marie Curie is delighted to see the Welsh Government publish its End of Life Care Quality Statement, which will be integral to the future planning of services in Wales for dying people. Following our petition with the Motor Neurone Disease Association, we're pleased that progress has been made since the spring, and are glad to see more people and capacity dedicated to working on the development of the programme.

"Now the real work must start. Marie Curie is looking forward to working closely with the new End of Life Care Programme Board and will continue to stress the need for an End of Life Care Action Plan, which must see the role of the voluntary sector acknowledged and patient and public engagement must be at the heart of its development. We must also see the vital link between research and health and social care policy to be clarified."
