Bethan Edwards, Marie Curie Policy and Public Affairs Manager in Wales, said:
"Today's statement is a welcome step forward in improving health equity for women across Wales. However, whilst much of the content is applicable to palliative and end of life care services, we are deeply disappointed that end of life care has not been given the explicit focus it needs and deserves.
At Marie Curie we believe our final days are as important as our first, and that everyone, no matter their sex or gender, where they live or what their background is, has access to high quality care and support at the end of their life. The Quality Statement is a missed opportunity for the Welsh Government to clearly set out their commitment to this.
The Health Minister has committed to ensuring any future work on women's health takes a cradle to grave approach and this needs to include addressing any potential inequities in women's end of life care. We look forward to working collaboratively with Welsh Government to ensure end of life care is included in the women's health plan set to be published this autumn."
