Restoration of the Northern Ireland political institutions

Today the main parties in Northern Ireland have agreed a power-sharing deal that has restored Stormonts political institutions after three years of deadlock.

Joan McEwan, Head of Policy and Public Affairs for Marie Curie Northern Ireland, comments on the restoration:

“Marie Curie warmly welcomes the announcement of a deal to restore the Stormont institutions. For three years terminally ill people have felt the negative impact of a non-functioning Assembly. While our civil servants should be commended for taking forward the work they could in very challenging circumstances, we need Executive Ministers in place to make the biggest decisions. We look forward to working with our MLAs and the next Executive to deliver for all terminally ill people and their loved ones across Northern Ireland.”
