A charity, which cares for people living with terminal illness, has thanked a steel giant for donating funds to help nurses care for people in their own homes.
Tata Steel donated £500 to Marie Curie, whose nursing service provides care and support to people and their families across the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg area.
Hannah Leckie, South Wales community fundraiser, said: “A huge thank you to Tata Steel for this donation, which will help Marie Curie Nurses provide free care to people living with terminal illness.
“We have 33 Marie Curie nurses across the ABMu area who last year spent over 19,529 hours caring for 418 patients.”
Nia Singleton, community liaison for Tata Steel added: “We were only too happy to make this donation as part of our annual Founders Day appeal. The work Marie Curie undertake in the Port Talbot community is invaluable.
“We know that a number of our employees have gained solace and comfort from the service the nursing team offer to their relatives needing end of life care.”
