Great Manchester Run FAQs
Have a burning question about your upcoming event? These FAQs should cover everything you need to know. If there’s something we haven’t answered please feel free to get in touch ― at team@mariecurie.org.uk or on 0800 716 146.

When is the Great Manchester Run?
The run takes place on Sunday 22 May 2022. The race will have staggered start times from 8.30 am - you can find your start time on your run number. Full details of wave assembly points and start times can be found on the race organiser's website.
What if I become injured or need to cancel my place?
Not a problem! If you have a ballot/general entry place you will need to contact the event organisers & us on team@mariecurie.org.uk.
When will I receive my official race day information and race number?
Packs are sent out two weeks prior to the event to both own place and charity place runners. These are sent out by the race organisers. The packs will include on-the-day information, your running number and race chip. Please do read all the enclosed information carefully. If your race pack does not arrive you can complete the online form here where the team will verify your entry and give you details as to how you can collect a replacement pack on race weekend.
Will there be toilets and drinks stations?
Details about support on race day can be found on the organiser's website.
What should I do about travel and accommodation?
The best place to find information on transport and accommodation is on the Great Manchester Run website. Do try and book early, to get the best choice and best deals!
What will I receive as part of Team Marie Curie?
As part of the team you’ll receive:
- access to our Running Zone with training plans, tips and advice
- regular e-newsletters with fundraising support and advice to help you smash your target
- a Marie Curie running vest & iron-on letters
- on-hand support from our fundraising team
What is my fundraising target?
As you have joined our team with a place secured through the race organisers, you do not have a set fundraising target we just ask that you raise as much as you can.
What if my Marie Curie top hasn't arrived or is the wrong size?
Please contact us as soon as possible so we can get one out to you ahead of race day!
What are the organisers doing about social distancing and safety at the event?
To find out what measures the Great Run Company will have in place on race day, please visit their website.
What is Marie Curie's covid guidance for events?
We recommend that all event participants carry out a lateral flow test before attending an event.
If you have tested positive for covid-19, are self-isolating or have any of the following symptoms, please do not attend the event unless you have carried out a test and have received a negative test confirmation:
• a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
• a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.
Some venues may require evidence of a negative lateral flow test result (e.g. government text confirming a reported test result) or vaccine confirmation (e.g. via the NHS app). If this is the case, we'll advise you of this in advance.
Please follow the guidance at the time of your event around the wearing of a face covering and, where not a legal requirement, we support personal choice in this matter.
