What is my fundraising target?
If you bought a charity place from Marie Curie your fundraising target is £180. If you have joined our team with a place secured through the race organisers, you do not have a set fundraising target we just ask that you raise as much as you can.
What if I become injured or need to cancel my place?
Not a problem! If you have a general entry place you will need to contact the event organisers & us. If you have a Marie Curie place our supporter relations team can help you. Email them on team@mariecurie.org.uk
Do I need a wetsuit?
Wetsuit use is optional at all John West Great Swim events for water temperatures of 15⁰C or above. Swimmers choosing not to wear a wetsuit MUST use an approved high visibility tow float, swimmers wearing wetsuits can also choose to swim with a tow float. This only applies to swimmers aged over 16 years old. Swimmers aged under 16 will be required to wear a wetsuit.
When will I receive my official race day information?
The race organisers will soon confirm how swimmers will receive their race packs.
How do I find out my start wave?
You will select your start wave when you complete your registration with the race organisers. We will be in touch with the details of how to register soon but if you have any questions, email us on team@mariecurie.org.uk.
What will I receive as part of Team Marie Curie?
As part of the team you’ll receive:
- Swimming Zone with training plans, tips and advice
- Regular e-newsletters with fundraising support and advice to help you smash your target
- On-the-day support from our dedicated events team
- On-hand support from our fundraising team
Where will Marie Curie be on the day?
We will be able to confirm closer to event weekend once we receive official guidance from the event organisers if we are able to come to cheer you on.
What are the organisers doing about social distancing and safety at the event?
Marie Curie is working with event organisers to make sure any future events are safe and are following current Government guidelines. We have plans to make sure any future cheer points and post-race plans are socially distanced, hygienic and safe for our event participants, staff and volunteers. We'll be in touch in the lead up to your event with plans and anything you need to know about your event and the safety measures in place. You can find more about plans and health and safety provisions from the organisers
