'Hats off" to all our wonderful volunteers

Our executive board take their hats off to our volunteersVolunteers’ Week is here and we want to say a massive ‘hats off’ to all the brilliant volunteers who donate their time and skills to Marie Curie.

Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) is an annual celebration of volunteering and charities all across the UK will be taking the opportunity to thank their volunteers. At Marie Curie we are joining in the national celebrations by hosting parties, organising events, and saying an extra special thank you for the amazing things our volunteers do.

Volunteers make such a difference to the work that Marie Curie can do and we're grateful to them every day. So it's great to be part of Volunteers' Week once a year and be able to say a really special 'thank you' with one voice. I never cease to be amazed at the dedication and imagination of our volunteers.

Over 3,300 volunteers help to keep our shops running, over 2,500 people volunteer in a group in their communities raising funds and awareness, 1,300 people donate their skills in one of our hospices and thousands more join us in a variety of other roles. Each volunteer helps us ensure we can provide care and support to the people and families who need our help.

All our volunteers somehow manage to fit in the time and their energies to be part of Marie Curie's work. And for that, we all say 'hats off to you!'

This week we will be hearing from staff at Marie Curie about the difference their volunteers make and why they are so special. How are you celebrating Volunteers’ Week? Tweet us @mariecurieuk using #volunteersweek.
