Could you walk 10k for Marie Curie? Sign up for Walk Ten 2014

10k Charity walk

Want to raise money for Marie Curie but don’t fancy a run or a triathlon? This summer, we’re inviting you to walk 10k for Marie Curie, at one of 19 stunning venues around the UK.
Walk Ten 2014 is now open for registrations – sign up now! What is Walk Ten? It’s a 10k evening walk with your family and friends in an attractive location. The walk is followed by an evening picnic and entertainment, including music and Walk Ten at 10pm fireworks, which coincides with the time many Marie Curie Nurses start their evening shift. You’ll also get to hear directly from one of our nurses about the care they provide and the difference you’re making. All we ask is for walkers to fundraise for Marie Curie ahead of their walk. We ask each walker to aim for at least £60, which funds three hours of nursing care at home for someone with a terminal illness. Carly’s story: why I take part in Walk Ten Carly Baraclough has taken part in Walk Ten since 2011, in memory of her dad Billy, who was cared for at the Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast, at the end of his life. In 2012, she even completed two Walk Tens – in Belfast and Northampton – in the space of two days, raising £956 for Marie Curie in the process. She says: “It was so reassuring to know that my dad was being well cared for by the nurses. That’s what really stands out – they look after the family as much as the patient. “Taking part in Walk Ten with friends is my way of giving something back. The speech given by a Marie Curie Nurse at the end of the walk puts the charity’s work into perspective. The nurses feel strongly about what they do, and because they cared for my dad, it hits home.” Walk Ten 2014 locations and dates Charity events - walking
