Go further with your fundraising

Thanks for swimming for Marie Curie. As you strive for your personal best in the pool at your Swimathon challenge this April, we’ve got tips to help you achieve your sponsorship target.

Marie Curie Nurses help people with a terminal illness to be cared for at home.

Why we need your support

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people living with any terminal illness. Last year, we supported more than 50,000 people across the UK, and our nurses provided 1.2 million hours of care to people in their homes.

Your Swimathon sponsorship will make sure people with a terminal illness, like Gordon, can continue getting the care and support they and their families need to make the most of the time they have together.

Every £20 you raise for Swimathon pays for a Marie Curie Nurse to care for someone in their home for one hour, providing vital care and emotional support.

How to get more sponsorship for your Swimathon challenge

Set your sponsorship target

Once you’ve got a target in mind, plan what you need to do to get there.

And remember, the more money you raise through your JustGiving page, the more freebies you’ll get. Raise £100 and receive a free Swimathon t-shirt . Or go further by raising £300 and get a limited-edition Swimathon towel too!

Make the most of your JustGiving page

Use your JustGiving page to tell your friends, family and colleagues about your challenge and why you're doing it.

You can post news about your training and fundraising activities, keeping everyone up to date with your progress. We also recommend adding any offline donations onto your JustGiving page so you can keep track of your total sponsorship.

If you need help to manage your fundraising on the go, download JustGiving’s app from iTunes or Google Play   for free. That way, you'll be notified whenever someone donates to your fundraising page and be able to read their message of support.

And if you’re on Facebook, don’t forget to use it to promote your JustGiving page to reach even more people you know. Here’s how you can do so.

Fancy doing a bit of fundraising?

Fundraising can help you reach, and even surpass, your sponsorship target. Not sure where to start? Here are a few bright ideas:

Have a feel-good bake sale

There are plenty of recipes out there to help you create delicious but good-for-you indulgences such as chocolate dipped fruits and oat bars.

So why not get that baking hat on and spread the goodness of healthy treats with others?

Bake some wholesome blueberry scones.

Organise a quiz with a difference

Get together with friends and family for your very own quiz about sports, health and wellbeing, and suggest a donation from those taking part.

You can share your passion on these topics and talk about how you’re training for Swimathon. You might even inspire others to go on a health kick or take on their own challenge for a great cause.

invite family and friends over for a quiz and good times.

Get more ideas and tips in the Marie Curie fundraising booklet in your welcome pack, and on our fundraising pages.
